One ingredient
Japanese green tea powder and nothing else. No sugar, no fillers, no added flavouring.
A minute to make
Sift, pour water at about 80 °C, whisk for fifteen seconds. Hot, iced, or shaken into milk.
Caffeine from tea
Matcha carries caffeine alongside the L-theanine that tea is naturally known for.
Sealed for freshness
An airtight pull-up tin or a triple-barrier zip bag, depending on the size. Reseal after each use.
Three steps, sixty seconds
Sift
Sift 1–2 g of matcha into a bowl so it whisks clump-free.
Add water at 80 °C
Pour 60–80 ml of water at about 80 °C. Boiling water scorches matcha and makes it bitter.
Whisk in a W
Whisk briskly for about fifteen seconds until it foams. Drink it straight, or pour it over 150 ml of milk.
Use 1–2 g per bowl. Matcha contains caffeine. Enjoy as part of a balanced diet.

How much depends on the grade and on how much powder you use. Roughly half a flat white in a 2 g serve.

You drink the whole leaf rather than an infusion, so what the leaf holds ends up in the bowl.

What does "ceremonial grade" actually mean?
The highest grade: first-harvest, shade-grown leaves, de-stemmed and milled into a fine, bright-green powder meant to be whisked with water. Lower grades are made for baking, or for hiding behind milk and sugar.
What is the difference between your teas?
Harvest and cultivar, mostly. The Everyday Blend uses the first and second harvest and is built to hold up against milk. The Ceremonial Premium and Ceremonial Organic are first harvest, smooth enough to drink with water alone. The Single Origin is one Okumidori cultivar kept separate so you can taste one place. The comparison above puts them side by side.
What is the scale based on?
It only shows how our own teas sit next to each other. It is not a comparison with other brands, not a certification, and not a health claim.
How much caffeine is in a serve?
Matcha contains caffeine, and a 2 g serve sits somewhere around half a typical flat white. Tea also contains L-theanine, which many people find makes the lift feel smoother.
Will it taste bitter?
Not if the water sits around 80 °C. Boiling water scorches matcha. Sift first, whisk briskly, and it stays smooth with a mild umami finish.
Is it organic?
The Ceremonial Grade-Organic 30 g is certified JAS Organic. Our other teas are sourced from the same growers and to the same standard, but they are not sold as certified organic.
What is this not?
Not a supplement, not a medicine, not a detox. It is 100% green tea powder. It does not treat, prevent or cure anything.
When is the best time to drink it?
Most people prefer morning or early afternoon. We would not drink it late in the evening, because of the caffeine.
How do I store it?
Reseal the pack and keep it cool, dry and out of the light. Matcha loses colour once opened, so the sooner you drink it the greener it stays.
