Yields: 1 serving Prep time: 5-10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • For the Fruit Layer:
    • 2-4 tablespoons Fresh Fruit Purée (Choose your favourite! See Notes)
    • Optional: 1-2 tsp Maple Syrup, Honey, or sweetener of choice (adjust based on fruit sweetness)
  • For the Matcha Layer:
    • 1 tsp (approx. 2g) High-Quality Culinary Grade Matcha Powder (Using organic is recommended!)
    • 60ml Hot Water (not boiling - aim for 70°C to 80°C)
  • For Assembly:

Equipment:

  • Small bowl
  • Bamboo whisk (chasen) or small electric frother
  • Serving glass (tall, approx. 350-400ml)
  • Blender (if making fresh purée)
  • Fine mesh sieve (recommended for sifting matcha)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fruit Layer:

    • If making fresh purée, blend your chosen fresh or frozen fruit until smooth. Add a tiny splash of water only if needed for blending consistency.
    • Spoon 2-4 tablespoons of the fruit purée into the bottom of your tall serving glass.
    • Optional: Stir your preferred sweetener into the purée in the glass.
  2. Make the Matcha Shot:

    • Sift the Noa matcha powder into a small bowl – this prevents clumps and ensures smoothness.
    • Add the 60ml of hot (not boiling!) water.
    • Whisk vigorously using a bamboo whisk (in a 'W' or 'M' motion) or an electric frother until the matcha is completely combined, smooth, and has a layer of fine froth (about 20-30 seconds).
  3. Assemble Your Iced Latte:

    • Fill the serving glass (with the purée at the bottom) almost to the top with ice cubes.
    • Slowly pour the 150ml of your chosen milk over the ice.
    • Carefully and slowly pour the freshly whisked matcha shot over the milk. Pouring gently onto an ice cube can help maintain beautiful, distinct layers.
  4. Serve and Enjoy Immediately:

    • Admire your colourful creation!
    • Pop in a reusable straw and either stir everything together for a blended flavour or sip through the layers for fruity and earthy bursts. Enjoy this perfect refreshing drink!

Nutritional Notes & Fruit Ideas:

  • Matcha Magic: Remember, quality matcha offers antioxidants and L-theanine for that feeling of calm, focused energy.
  • Fruit Power: Using fresh fruit provides vitamins, minerals, and fibre. Some great options and their potential benefits include:
  • Milk Matters: Choose the milk that best suits your dietary needs and taste preferences.

Tips and Variations:

  • Adjust Sweetness: Taste your fruit purée before adding extra sweetener – some fruits are naturally very sweet!
  • Get Creative: Try mixing fruits (like mango-pineapple) or adding a sprig of fresh mint to the glass.
  • Slushie Version: Blend the milk, matcha shot (once cooled slightly), and ice together for a thicker, slushie-style drink, then pour over the fruit purée.
  • Make it Creamier: Use full-fat milk or add a splash of coconut cream for extra richness.

This versatile Iced Matcha Fruit Latte is a fantastic way to enjoy matcha's benefits while savouring your favourite fruit flavours – perfect for staying cool and energized anywhere in Australia!
